In a move to empower the educated youths and facilitate their way to employment, the Bihar government headed by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, has rolled out a new scheme of allowances to the unemployed graduates in the year 2025. The step, that precedes the Assembly elections, is indicative of the long-term state interests in the welfare of youth, development of their skills and creation of jobs.
Increase in Self-Help Allowance Scheme.
The scheme is a continuation of the Mukhya Mantri Nishchay Swayam Sahayta Bhatta Yojana that used to benefit only unemployed youth who had intermediate pass. Graduates aged 20125 not in second level studies, in employment, or self-employed will also get [?]1,000/month in two years. The benefit is inclusive of graduates in arts, science and commerce streams.
Objectives and Benefits
The allowance is made to ensure that young people can concentrate on skill development, preparation of competitive exams, and career development not having to be stressed because of financial strains in the present time. The government is trying to decrease dependency, enhance self-reliance, and better employability by helping unemployed graduates. The project is also aligned to the broader vision of Bihar in order to give back to the national development by means of skilled work force.
Employment Drive in Bihar
Since 2005, the government of Nitish Kumar has focused on the empowerment of youth. The 7 Nischay has presented various programs to generate livelihoods. This expansion is another measure in addressing unemployment amongst the educated young people following the introduction of Self-Help Allowance Scheme in 2016 to the middle-pass pupils.
Support Beyond Graduates
The government also introduced direct aid to construction workers along with this plan. Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi birthday [?]5,000 was given out to more than 16 lakh registered workers on the day of Vishwakarma Puja. Also, in the scheme of Annual Clothing Assistance, [?]802.46 crore was paid and the new Pratigya web portal was introduced to help the welfare of the contractual workers.
Future Employment Goals
The Bihar government has planned a very high goal of generating one crore jobs within the period of five years, both in the state and the private sectors. Graduate allowance is supposed to be a significant aspect in this mission to provide short term financial security and train the young people with long term opportunities.
Through the financial aid, skill-building programs and welfare, Bihar is preparing the state to have a more employable and self-dependent generation of youth.
