Andhra Pradesh Launches Amaravati Quantum Valley to Build Global Quantum Hub

The Government of Andhra Pradesh is set to formally begin construction of the Amaravati Quantum Valley (AQV) on February 7, marking a decisive move towards positioning the State as a global destination for advanced quantum technologies. The foundation stone ceremony will be held at Amaravati , reflecting the capital region’s evolving role as a knowledge-driven innovation hub.

The launch will be led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu , with participation from Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and Earth Sciences Jitendra Singh and Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT and Electronics Nara Lokesh . The presence of both State and Union leadership highlights the national significance of quantum technologies in India’s long-term science and innovation strategy.


Vision Behind Amaravati Quantum Valley

The Amaravati Quantum Valley is envisioned as an integrated ecosystem combining research, skilling, and industrial deployment of quantum technologies. Its core objective is to accelerate the translation of cutting-edge research into real-world applications across quantum computing, quantum communication, sensing, and advanced materials. By aligning academia, startups, and global technology firms, AQV aims to shorten innovation cycles and build a strong domestic quantum talent base.


Industry Partnerships and Knowledge Infrastructure

A key feature of the project is the creation of specialised institutions within the Quantum Valley. These include an IBM–TCS Quantum Innovation Centre to support applied research and industry use cases, a dedicated Quantum Talent Hub focused on workforce development, and a Quantum Reference Facility proposed by SRM University. These facilities are expected to anchor collaborative research and attract global expertise into the State’s quantum ecosystem.

In addition, the State government is expected to sign Memoranda of Understanding with nine leading companies, signalling sustained private investment and confidence in Andhra Pradesh’s ambition to emerge as a long-term quantum innovation cluster.
