Anahat Singh Wins Maiden PSA Bronze Title, Enters World Top 20

Breakthrough Moment for Indian Squash

Indian squash’s rapid global ascent gained fresh momentum as Anahat Singh delivered the most significant victory of her young career. At just 17 years of age, Anahat clinched her first PSA Bronze-level title at the Squash On Fire Open in Washington , defeating a top-10 opponent and underlining India’s growing presence on the international squash circuit.

Historic Final at the Squash On Fire Open

In a commanding final, Anahat defeated world No. 10 Georgina Kennedy , the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, in straight games. The Indian seventh seed prevailed 12–10, 11–5, 11–7 in a swift 26-minute contest , displaying tactical clarity and composure well beyond her years.

Her recovery from an 8–10 deficit in the opening game proved decisive, allowing her to seize early control and deny Kennedy sustained attacking opportunities. The win marked Anahat’s 15th professional title across the PSA circuit.

Youngest Asian Player in the World Top 20

The Washington triumph propelled Anahat into the top 20 of the PSA world rankings , making her the youngest Asian squash player to reach the milestone. Remarkably, she achieved this feat in just 26 PSA Tour appearances , reflecting a rapid and efficient rise through the professional ranks.

Consistent Progress on the PSA Tour

Anahat’s ascent has been marked by steady progression rather than isolated success. She was part of the Indian squad that won a historic Squash World Cup title in Chennai in 2025 , a landmark achievement for the sport in the country. Earlier this season, she also reached the semifinals of the Canadian Women’s Open , a PSA Silver-level event , signalling her readiness to challenge elite players regularly.

These performances indicate a transition from promising junior to established contender on the senior circuit.

Coaching Perspective and Road Ahead

Anahat’s coach Stephane Galifi has described her as a prodigious talent, citing her match intelligence, tactical awareness, and rapid learning curve. Going forward, the focus will be on expanding her international schedule, training with top-ranked players abroad, and building the physical endurance required to compete consistently at the highest level.
