Alwar Makes History as First Fully Insured District Under National 'Secure India' Vision
Alwar district in Rajasthan has achieved a landmark milestone by becoming the first district in India to attain 100% insurance coverage under the national 'Insurance for All by 2047' roadmap. This accomplishment marks a significant step toward the central vision of building a 'Secure India–Insured India' by ensuring comprehensive risk protection reaches the grassroots level.
About the National 'Insurance for All by 2047' Initiative
This transformative goal is a joint initiative of the Government of India and the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) , operating under the Ministry of Finance . The program aims to achieve universal insurance coverage by the centenary of India's Independence in 2047 , with core principles of inclusion, affordability, and last-mile delivery to strengthen the nation's social security framework.
Execution Through Systematic Door-to-Door Surveys
The achievement in Alwar was made possible through a meticulous, systematic door-to-door survey that identified 1,367 previously uninsured individuals above the age of 10 across nine villages. By enrolling these beneficiaries into formal insurance schemes, the district achieved complete saturation. This process ensures no eligible resident is excluded, creating a replicable model for other districts nationwide.
Villages Declared Fully Insured and Institutional Support
The nine villages that have been officially declared fully insured are: Bhulla Ka Bas, Bichpuri, Palankheda, Antapada, Hanumanta, Kalyanpura, Morodkhurd, Kodalka, and Lalpur . Insurance policies were formally distributed at a ceremony chaired by Additional District Collector Bina Mahawar . The premiums were funded by a non-governmental organization , removing financial barriers for villagers, and the policies were issued by the public sector insurer, United India Insurance Company Ltd.
