Adani Group Partners with UNESCO-Recognized World Engineering Day 2026

Adani Group Becomes First Indian Partner for World Engineering Day 2026

The  Adani Group  has been selected as an official partner for  World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development (WED) 2026  , marking the first time an Indian organization has been chosen for this prestigious global platform. The annual event, recognized by  UNESCO  and coordinated by the  World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO)  , celebrates the critical role of engineering in achieving sustainable development goals worldwide.

Global Recognition of Indian Engineering Capabilities
World Engineering Day highlights the importance of engineering solutions in advancing the  United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)  . As a partner for the 2026 edition, the Adani Group will showcase engineering innovations that contribute to  sustainable infrastructure, renewable energy, and digital transformation . The partnership reflects the growing prominence of Indian engineering capabilities in addressing global sustainability challenges and demonstrates the country's emergence as a leader in clean energy technologies.

Khavda Renewable Energy Project: A Showcase of Engineering Excellence
A central feature of the collaboration is the  Khavda Renewable Energy Park , located in the  Kutch region of Gujarat . Developed by  Adani Green Energy Limited , this ambitious project is expected to become the  world's largest renewable energy installation  upon completion. The facility is being constructed across approximately  538 square kilometres of arid land —an area nearly  five times the size of Paris . Once fully operational, the project is projected to generate around  30 gigawatts of renewable energy capacity by 2029 , making it a cornerstone of India's clean energy transition.

Several specialized companies within the Adani Group, including  Adani Energy Solutions  and  Adani New Industries , are contributing to the project's development, demonstrating the conglomerate's integrated approach to renewable energy infrastructure.

Engineering for Sustainable Development
The theme for  World Engineering Day 2026  is  "Smart engineering for a sustainable future through innovation and digitalisation."  WFEO has identified the Khavda project as a major example of engineering-driven energy transformation, showcasing how large-scale renewable infrastructure can support  climate action, enhance energy security, and stimulate economic growth . The project exemplifies the convergence of cutting-edge engineering, environmental stewardship, and sustainable development principles that World Engineering Day seeks to promote globally.
