Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Program.

Launch & Recognition: This program was launched in 2024 as a component of the campaign program, Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain. Recently, Karnataka district of Bidar was given the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Award as a top performing district.

Recent Recognition:
Cold Desert Biosphere Reserve (CDBR) in Himachal Pradesh has recently been listed as a part of UNESCO World Network of Biosphere Reserves (WNBR). The inclusion makes the total number of biosphere reserves listed by UNESCO in India 13.

Existing Environmental War.
Ecuador is now experiencing a major social and environmental crisis with the Indigenous people strongly protesting against the proposal by President Daniel Noboa to increase oil drilling in the Amazon rainforest. This has posed a significant source of conflict between the economic development policies of the government and the rights of the Indigenous people and the conservation of the environment.

Mission Overview
The first Indian multi-wavelength space observatory, AstroSat, has been in operation since its launch on September 28, 2015, and has completed a decade of operation. The satellite was put into orbit with the help of the PSLV-C30 (XL) vehicle of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota. AstroSat has been an extremely successful mission, significantly surpassing its intended minimum operational life of five years, and still delivering useful scientific data.

Recent Discovery & Significance:
Recently, the Union Petroleum Minister announced the discovery of natural gas in the Andaman basin. This confirms the geological evaluations that have been in existence that the area has a lot of hydrocarbon deposits and thus it can be used in the future as a source of energy to India.
