The Supreme Court restates bar on anticipatory bail in Caste Atrocity cases

In a move that has strengthened the ban on anticipatory bail in caste-based criminals, the Supreme Court of India has overturned a Bombay High Court order that had rescued an accused. In the judgment, it is stressed that in Section 18 of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, the anticipatory bail is categorically excluded in such a case as the prima facie case of the atrocity is provided.

Sarnath Archaeology History Revised and Narratives Redone

The Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is even making plans to install a updated plaque in Sarnath, a move that comes as a result of new discoveries in Sarnath that present the role of Babu Jagat Singh a descendent of the Benares royal family. This action is also meant to question long held assumptions that the Sarnath archaeological riches were discovered by the British archeologists. The revision is in line with the nomination of Sarnath by India to the UNESCO World Heritage List, and a staff are set to visit this location soon.
