Indian Navy to Commission Survey Vessel ‘Ikshak’ at Kochi on November 6

 

  • The Indian Navy will commission its indigenously built Survey Vessel (Large) ‘Ikshak’ at Naval Base Kochi on November 6, 2025. The ceremony will be presided over by Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff. ‘Ikshak’ is the third ship in the Survey Vessel (Large) series, marking another step forward in India’s self-reliant shipbuilding and hydrographic capabilities.

Government Approves Rs5,500 Crore Projects Under Electronics Manufacturing Component Scheme

 

  • The Government of India has approved the first batch of seven projects worth Rs5,532 crore under the Electronics Manufacturing Component Scheme (EMCS), giving a major boost to domestic electronics manufacturing. These projects are expected to generate Rs36,559 crore in production value and create over 5,100 direct jobs across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh.

Justice Surya Kant to Become 53rd Chief Justice of India

 

New Delhi, October 2025:

  • Justice Surya Kant, currently the second senior-most judge of the Supreme Court, has been recommended by outgoing Chief Justice B.R. Gavai as his successor. The Centre has received the formal communication, clearing the way for his appointment as the 53rd Chief Justice of India (CJI). Justice Kant will assume office on 24 November 2025, a day after CJI Gavai’s retirement.
