In the Persian Gulf and the northern part of the Indian Ocean, Iran has carried out a large naval exercise, the Sustainable Power 1404. This two-day exercise is the largest military exercise conducted by the country, since its June 2025 conflict with Israel and is widely viewed as the act to restore military image of the country after that confrontation.

Why Prediction is needed

The Solar eruptions such as flares and coronal mass ejections (CME) form what is known as Space weather, which is a major threat to the modern technology. Clashes can destroy satellites, trip up power grid, interfere with GPS and air travel systems and also put astronauts at risk. Proper forecasting is an important aspect of curbing such risks.

India has indelible space time achievements like Chandrayaan-3 and more importantly the upcoming Gaganyaan which has made it very clear that it is a technological powerhouse. The only important piece missing however is a comprehensive national space law. The process of creating a robust legal framework is now necessary in order to maintain the leading responsible position of India as a spacefaring nation.
