The Union Government has approved the renovation of the Bascule Bridge located at the Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata. The project, cleared by Sarbananda Sonowal, is estimated to cost ₹117.54 crore. The renovation aims to upgrade the ageing bridge infrastructure and improve cargo handling as well as vehicular movement within the Kolkata Dock System, an important maritime logistics hub on India’s eastern coast.
