Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation for infrastructure projects worth ₹23,550 crore in Silchar, aimed at improving connectivity and transforming the Barak Valley into an important trade and logistics hub in Northeast India. Speaking at a public event in Ramnagar, the Prime Minister highlighted that stronger transport networks would enhance the region’s integration with domestic and neighbouring markets, particularly Bangladesh, Myanmar, and other regional economies.
