DRDO Successfully Tests TARA Weapon System

Short Overview

Defence Research and Development Organisation and the Indian Air Force successfully conducted the first flight trial of the Tactical Advanced Range Augmentation (TARA) weapon system on 7 May 2026.

The test took place off the coast of Odisha. The weapon was released from a Jaguar aircraft. TARA is India’s first indigenous glide weapon system.

The successful test marks an important step in India’s defence modernization and indigenous weapon development.

JANANI stands for Journey of Antenatal, Natal and Neonatal Integrated Care.

The platform will digitally monitor women and children during pregnancy, childbirth, and newborn care. The system aims to improve healthcare tracking, early risk detection, and continuity of medical services.
