India’s sport climbing ecosystem received a major boost as 14-year-old Amieyra Khoslla won the gold medal in the Youth Girls (Under-17) category at the 29th National Sport Climbing Championship 2025. The championship was held in Bengaluru from December 26 to 29, bringing together the country’s best young climbers across age groups and disciplines.

Goa Expands Administrative Map

Goa is set to witness a significant administrative reorganisation with the creation of its third district, Kushavati. The announcement was made by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, marking the first addition to Goa’s district structure since its formation as a state. At present, Goa has only North Goa and South Goa districts.

The new district derives its name from the ancient Kushavati river, reflecting the state’s emphasis on linking administrative reforms with historical and cultural identity.

Election Outcome and Provisional Results

Guinea’s long-awaited transition to civilian governance has been formalised with Mamady Doumbouya winning the presidential election, according to provisional results announced on December 31, 2025. The head of the electoral authority said Doumbouya secured 86.72 per cent of the vote in the December 28 polls, avoiding a second round. Voter turnout was officially pegged at 80.95 per cent, though opposition groups questioned participation levels, particularly in the capital Conakry. Guinea’s Supreme Court has up to eight days to confirm the outcome if petitions are filed. The result grants Doumbouya a seven-year presidential term.

Cabinet Approval for Key Governance Reform

The Delhi Cabinet has approved the Delhi Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Bill, 2026, marking a major step towards simplifying regulatory compliance and reducing unnecessary criminalisation in the National Capital. The reform is aimed at improving both ease of doing business and ease of living by replacing criminal penalties for minor violations with proportionate civil measures.
