Seven-Month Fishing Ban Imposed to Protect Olive Ridley Turtles in Gahirmatha

 

  • A seven-month fishing ban has been enforced in the Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary of Kendrapada district, Odisha, from November 1 to May 31 to protect the endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles during their annual mating and nesting season. The sanctuary, known for its rich marine biodiversity, is one of the most important nesting sites for Olive Ridleys in the world.

India Excludes China, Pakistan, and Turkiye from 2026 International Fleet Review

 
  • India has decided not to invite China, Pakistan, and Turkiye to the third International Fleet Review (IFR) scheduled to take place in Visakhapatnam in February 2026. So far, 55 countries, including the United States and Russia, have confirmed participation, showcasing India’s growing naval stature.
