• The United Nations Environment Programme’s (UNEP) Adaptation Gap Report 2025 has issued a stark warning, revealing a growing chasm between the rising costs of climate adaptation and the declining flow of public finance.

• The 5th Marine Fisheries Census (MFC) 2025 will begin on 31 October 2025, marking a nationwide effort to document the socio-economic and occupational status of India’s marine fishing community. Conducted by the Department of Fisheries under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana, the census aims to collect vital data for sustainable fisheries management and policy planning.

• The National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS) and the International Centre for Theoretical Sciences (ICTS), both under TIFR, have launched the Centre for Artificial Learning and Intelligence for Biological Research and Education (CALIBRE) in Bengaluru. The initiative aims to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) with biological research to address India’s scientific, environmental, and healthcare challenges.

• The 31st edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) will be held from November 6 to 13, 2025. The festival, themed “Where Cinema Connects The World,” aims to transform Kolkata into a global hub for filmmakers, artists, and cinema enthusiasts.
