This is the 14th consecutive year after Harvard University remained at the top of the World Reputation Rankings 2025.
The second position is shared between Harvard University and the University of Oxford as well as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
Only one UK university, Oxford University, appears in the top 7 list but among the US universities.
The Times Higher Education (THE) has ranked as many as 300 institutions in 38 countries and territories this year.
Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bengaluru fell to the 201-300 in the 101-125 ranking in 2023.
IIT Delhi and IIT Madras also dropped down to join IISc to 201-300 band.
IIT Delhi fell to 201-300 band as compared to 151-175 band whereas IIT Madras fell to 201-300 band as compared to 176-200 band.
IIT Bombay failed to make it to the list whereas last year it was ranked 151-175.
The newcomer in the list that has occupied a position in the 201-300 band is Shiksha O Anusandhan, a private deemed-to-be university in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
