Patna Metro Launch-Related Update

Inauguration & Overview

• Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the first phase of Patna Metro , a milestone for the state’s urban transport.

• Phase 1 – Priority Corridor:

  • Length: 3.6 km (elevated)

  • Route: New Pataliputra Bus Terminal (ISBT) → Zero Mile → Bhootnath Station

• Public rides start: 7 October 2025

Metro Operations

• Train Composition: 3 coaches per train

• Capacity: About 900 passengers per trip

• Operating Hours: 8 AM – 10 PM daily

• Trips per Day: 40–42 trips

• Frequency: Every 20 minutes

• Fare: ?15 (minimum) – ?30 (maximum)

Safety & Security

• Managed by Bihar State Auxiliary Police (B-SAP) to ensure smooth operations and passenger safety.

Foundation & Purpose

• Foundation stone: Laid by PM Narendra Modi in February 2019

• Objectives:

  • Reduce traffic congestion

  • Encourage public transport usage

  • Improve connectivity for daily commuters

  • Support sustainable urban development and Patna’s smart city integration
