(NIRF).

  • Schools  funded by central/state/UT governments and recommended by the Ministry of Education.

  • These hostels help SC students pursue education without having to worry about accommodation.

    Eligibility for Benefits

    • Income‑generating schemes & skill programmes:  SC persons living  below the poverty line  are eligible.

    • Infrastructure development (Adarsh Gram):  Villages with  ≥50% SC population  can apply for grants.

The scheme is open to  all states and Union territories , and funds are distributed based on the SC population and the state’s Special Component Plan (SCSP).

What the New Portal and App Do

    PM‑AJAY Portal

    • Centralised digital platform for  implementation, monitoring and milestone‑linked fund management .

    • Replaces paper‑based Village Development Plans (VDPs) with digital workflows.

    • National dashboard tracks progress against the 50 socio‑economic indicators.

    • For the  Grants‑in‑Aid  component, it functions as a  Management Information System (MIS)  that aggregates financial data on skilling and livelihood projects.

    • The  Hostel  component monitors construction and repair work in real time.

    AJAY Mobile App

    • Extends the portal’s functions to field staff.

    • Enables  offline door‑to‑door surveys , digital beneficiary registration, and real‑time VDP generation.

    • For hostel works, field inspectors can submit  geo‑tagged and time‑stamped photographs  to verify construction milestones.

    • Features  role‑based access control  and a  unified login  that integrates with other government portals.

    Why This Matters

The digitisation of PM‑AJAY brings  transparency, efficiency and accountability  to a scheme that directly impacts millions of SC families. Paper‑based processes – often slow and prone to errors – are replaced by real‑time digital workflows. Fund releases are now  milestone‑linked , which means money is disbursed only when concrete progress is reported and approved. For field workers, the AJAY app simplifies data collection even in areas with poor internet connectivity.

In short, these digital tools ensure that every rupee spent reaches its intended purpose and that the benefits of the scheme are delivered faster and more reliably to the communities that need them most.

    Conclusion

The launch of the  PM‑AJAY portal  and  AJAY mobile app  marks a major step toward  digital governance in welfare delivery . By combining three earlier schemes into one streamlined, tech‑enabled platform, the government aims to accelerate  socio‑economic upliftment of Scheduled Castes . With coverage of over  47,000 villages  and  4 million beneficiaries , the initiative promises to make the process cleaner,
