Short Information The process of getting registration of the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2026 is to start on 28 th August 2025. IIT Guwahati is an Indian Institute of Technology, and this is a highly ranked national entrance examination providing a gateway to master degree programs, direct doctoral opportunities and good career opportunities in the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).In advance of the registration, an information brochure regarding eligibility criteria, examination patterns, list of papers, and other information applicable to the candidates will be released by IIT Guwahati.

Application Fees

 

 

The application fee for GATE 2026 has seen a slight revision. The category-wise fees are:

  • Regular (Till Sept 25)
  • Late (Sept 26-Oct 6)
  • Female/SC/ST/PwD: 1,000 
  • All Other Candidates: 2,000
  • Late fee:1500 to 2500

 

 

 

Remember Before Applying

  • Read the Brochure: Brush up on the official information brochure especially on change of rules in combination of two sheets.
  • Preparedness of documents: This should involve scanning of all the documents in a clear manner and follow the size and format as required and this should not be rejected.
  • Be Sensible with Paper Selection: Selection of papers must correspond with the areas of strength as well as your career/higher education aspirations.

Eligibility Requirements: Eligibility?

 

  • Academic Qualification: Candidates of 3 rd year or more of the degree in the course of Undergraduate degree or who have already completed a government recognized degree in Engineering/Technology/Architecture/Science / Commerce / Arts are eligible.
  • International Candidates: International students who are also eligible to apply are those with a bachelor degree or still undertaking one (at least 3 years) in a relating course field.

How To Apply GATE 2026: Step-by-Step Process

 

The registration process requires the candidates to navigate to the official GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) portal namely gate2026.iitg.ac.in and follow the steps as illustrated below:

 

  • New Registration: Navigate to the official site and an option click read on the new user. Enroll Here."
  • Enter Sign-in information: enter your name, an active email address and mobile number to obtain an enrollment ID and password.
  • Filling in the Application Form: Enter your profile, complete the Application Form in a diligent manner providing all personal, academic, and communication information.
  • Exam preferences: You can select your preferred examination paper (or a valid combination of papers) and the examination city to take the examination in.
  • Upload Documents: All required documents to be uploaded are to be scanned and uploaded in the required file format and size:
  • Recent (as of November 2012, and preferably 6 months old as of August 2013) passport-size photograph (original size 23/35mm x 55/58mm)
