Chennai to Host 5th Coast Guard Global Summit in 2027

The 5 th Coast Guard Global Summit (CGGS), will be held at Chennai in India in 2027 to mark the 50 th anniversary of Indian Coast Guard. This was adopted unanimously at the 4th CGGS in Rome (2025) which was attended by 115 countries and international organisations. The summit will also serve as a significant venue to improve maritime cooperation, security, and the environment.

Erra Matti Dibbalu and Tirumala Hills added to Tentative List of UNESCO

Andhra Pradesh is also home to two distinct natural features in its unique list of natural features in the list of Tentative List of World Heritage Sites by UNESCO the Erra Matti Dibbalu (Red Sand Dunes) near Visakhapatnam and the Tirumala Hills, the location of the Eparchaean Unconformity. Supreme Court affirms property rights of tribal women

The Supreme Court of India took a landmark decision on July 17, 2025, and confirmed the property rights of tribal women. In Ram Charan and Ors. vs Sukhram and Ors., the Court declared that daughters were not provided with ancestral property, which infringed on their basic right of equality which was enshrined in the Constitution. This ruling is a step towards gender justice in tribal communities, where the customary laws tend to deprive women of their inheritance.
