Satellites and Apps Now Track Jute Crops India New JCIS System

OVERVIEW

The National Jute Board is now using a smart system to track jute crops. It is called the Jute Crop Information System (JCIS). This system was launched in 2023. It was developed with help from ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation) and the Jute Corporation of India. JCIS uses satellite images, weather data, and field reports to monitor jute farming. It has two tools: BHUVAN JUMP (a mobile app) and PATSAN (a web platform). The system gives early warnings about floods, dry spells, and crop stress. This helps farmers and officials make better decisions.

India-Oman Trade Deal CEPA to Start on 1 June 2026 – 98 Percent of Indian Exports Get Duty-Free Access

OVERVIEW

India and Oman have finalized a big trade agreement. It is called the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). The agreement was signed in December 2025. Oman approved it through a Royal decree in February 2026. Now, it will come into force on 1 June 2026. Under this deal, India will get duty-free access for 98% of its exports to Oman. These include textiles, farm products, and leather goods. India will also lower tariffs on some Omani products like dates, marbles, and petrochemicals. Bilateral trade between the two countries was about US$10.61 billion in 2024-25.

Kukke Subrahmanya Temple Karnataka Famous Serpent Worship Shrine

Overview

The Kukke Subrahmanya Temple is one of the most respected Hindu temples in South India. The temple is located in the village of Subramanya in Karnataka’s Dakshina Kannada district. It is dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya, who is also known as Kartikeya, Murugan, and Skanda. The temple is famous for serpent worship and ancient traditions. Thousands of devotees visit the temple every year to perform special rituals and seek blessings.

India’s 2047 Defence Roadmap: Rs8.8 Trillion Production, Rs2.8 Trillion Exports

OVERVIEW

India has set a big goal for its defence forces. By the year 2047, the country wants a fully integrated, self-reliant military. This military will be able to operate on land, in water, in the air, in space, and in cyberspace. The plan is called Defence Forces Vision 2047. It was unveiled by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. India aims to raise domestic defence production to ₹8.8 trillion and exports to ₹2.8 trillion by 2047. The roadmap has three phases up to 2047. New forces like a Drone Force, Space Command, and Cyber Command will be created. A powerful missile shield named Mission Sudarshan Chakra is also part of the plan.

MGNREGA to End on 1 July 2026 – New VB-G RAM G Act Offers 125 Days of Work

OVERVIEW

From 1 July 2026, India will replace the old MGNREGA with a new rural employment law. It is called the Viksit Bharat – Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, 2025, or VB-G RAM G Act. The new act gives 125 days of guaranteed wage employment to every eligible rural household. This is 25 days more than the earlier 100 days. The government has set a record budget of ₹95,692.31 crore for 2026-27. Gram Panchayats will play a bigger role. Wages will be paid through Direct Benefit Transfer.
